This was the family Dinner table for Thanksgiving 2017. 23 family members and great food and drink. It was a very successful Thanksgiving. I went with two Agate Ridge Whites - Del Rio's Rose' and Jolee' The Jolee' is my wife's and step daughters favorite. Next to that was Diamondback Pinot Noir. I'm normally not big fan of this varietal, but this was one of the best wines I've ever had. The last, but not the least was Spangler's Zinfandel. All of these wines presented themselves amazingly. Like most Thanksgiving dinners. There was a ton of different foods and flavors. Thankfully all of these winery's produced great wines so that my family was able to enjoy. Thank you to Agate Ridge - Del Rio - Diamondback and Spangler for making my family 2017 Thanksgiving dinner a success. Look these Wineries up or email me at paul@paulhartrealty.com to get more details on these and other Southern Oregon Wineries.

2017 Harvest

I've been talking to a lot of wine industry people and it seems we've had another good harvest this year. Each vineyard is different for multiple reasons. My suggestion is when you go into a SO. Oregon Winery. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the harvest. It's my goal to get more tasting rooms to post notes about the harvest. A few have brought in grapes during harvest. The fruit flies stink, but tasting the fruit on the vine is fun to taste. I love tasting wine from vine to Bottle. I write little notes so I can remember the changes that each vintage and varietal goes through. I'm not an expert when it comes to wine making, but I believe you will enjoy learning and enjoying the changes each year goes through as the wine matures over the years. Great winemakers make great wine, but like many things that become great. It starts in the beginning. #buysouthernoregonwines

Its been a while since I had been to Roxyann Winery so when I was there on the 20th of this month. I wanted to purchase a bottle and enjoy it with a couple friends that work at Roxyann. Man was I happy to have the 2013 Petite Sirah. When you purchase a big red like this it is always important to pour a bit into your glass. Give it a try after a minute and if its already good. Its going to be great experience. With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming. This a must have bottle if your having prime rib. I won't go into a bunch of fancy tasting notes, but I'll say this. A great wine is like a great story. It has a great opening - middle and end. The 2013 Petite Sirah from Roxyann Winery is a great wine that should be enjoyed with that great book or this Holiday season.

After a very long lay off from posting things on my blog. A friend of mine and some co-workers stated that they wanted to see more posts about SO. Wine and all things SO. Oregon. So with that I post a picture of one of my greatest friends. Ned Armstrong and I had many of great times at Roxyann Winery. This night he talked Brenda (tasting room manager into a Karaoke night). If you have not been there. Get there! Thanksgiving is coming and every table needs a bottle of Pino Nior on it. Fantastic staff - wines and events
