Do I have a Gem of a wine for you. In my job I get to handle some printing for some of the Wineries in SO.  Oregon. I had a label job that I had to deliver to Agate Ridge Vineyard for one of their custom crush clients. It was Friday and the day was over for me. I went into the tasting room and tried a few of their wines. Thank God I did. The 08 Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite for the reds, but let me give you a little more information about this wonderful vineyard and Winery. Petite Sirah - Syrah - Cab. Franc and yes they have a great Pinot Noir. Here is where it got tricky for me. They make a Barrel fermented Viognier. I love my Viognier and it's traditional floral noise - solid mid pallet and finishes. This Barrel fermented Viognier "ROCKED MY WORLD". The fruit is just amazing on the noise. If you love the smell of banana's. You will love this wine. If you are looking for great wines to enjoy. This is a must go to tasting room. If you are headed to Crater Lake or Lost Creek and for that matter. If you are within 50 miles of Eagle Point Oregon. You must stop by and try their wines. If you leave there without buying a couple bottles of wine. I feel sorry for you. http://www.agateridgevineyard.com/ Go to this website or get there soon. Tell them WinePrint sent you.

Easter Ham

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter. I was lucky enough to have a chance to hang out with family and friends. My wife and I cooked a wonderful meal that included Ham. We cooked a bone in Ham and cooked it in a turkey bag. That is the way to go if you are cooking it in your oven. This is the third time we have done this, and the ham comes out very moist without watching over it. Which is important to me on Easter because it was the final day of the Masters and it was an excellent tournament. My wife asked me to pick out a bottle of wine to go with dinner. We all have learned the basics of white wine goes with fish and red wine goes with beef. What about pork chops or ham. I thought about it for a brief second. I opened up a bottle of Spangler Vineyards 2009 Grenache. This medium bodied Grenache was PERFECT!. The fruit is right up front and you will pick up Red Raspberry & Strawberry. I even picked up the flavor of Rhubarb pie in the middle and end of this wonderful wine. If you are looking for a medium bodied red wine then this is a must try wine. If you only like white wine I believe this is a perfect wine to get to know red wine. If you only like red wine but don't want to drink a Cab in 95 degree weather. This is a must try wine. Go to www.spanglervineyards.com order this wine. You will not be sorry. Tell them that WinePrint sent you.

Roxyann Winery

I started this blog because I thought it would be fun and I would get a chance to hear and tell some stories about the great Wineries in Southern Oregon and also the great areas to visit in Oregon. As I have stated to many people about my blog. It is set up to talk about wine and places in Oregon in a very simple and laid back way. You will not see a write up on my blog that say things like: The effervescent aroma of peach comes to the front nicely. I will keep thing very simple. That said I want to correct a misspelling on my Friday Nights post. The Winery I was talking about is Roxyann Winery. I know this because I live within a mile of the location and know just about everyone that works there. If you have been trying to located Roxyann but have not due to my misspelling. I appoligize!!! Go to http://www.roxyann.com/ to see what they have going on in the coming days.

Oregon Tourism

Just a footnote for the future. Being in the printing business. It allows me to travel through this great state of ours. I have traveled through 22 states of this great nation and it is my belief that Oregon is one if not the best State over all. We have everything. The Oregon Coast is absolutely Gorgeous. This is hard to say because I grew up in Southern California skateboarding and surfing the great waves of Huntington Beach California. I live in Medford Oregon and would not live anywhere else. Two days ago I had bright blue skies and today I have this wonderful white blanket of snow. By this Friday the snow will be gone and I will be golfing Saturday. Let's not forget Crater Lake and other great places to visit. My blog will be set in a truthful and simple way of explaining my feelings. I will not be adding discriptions like Sunset Magazine. I will close by saying that if any one has any details they would like to share or would like to talk to me. Please reach out and let's get the word out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday Nights

When I have a chance I always like taking a drive out to the Applegate or up to the Umpqua. This is not always the case when it comes to looking to do something on a Friday Night. Roxyanne Winery has it all. Friday nights at Roxyanne are wonderful. It is located in town, so you are not out in the countryside at night after a few glasses of wine. The tasting room is very nice and has some of the best people working behind the bar. If you are looking for a place to enjoy some great wine and great music. Go to Roxyann. get there before 5:30. The place fills up fast. The wine selection is very nice. The Pinot Gris and Claret are the best sellers for Roxyanne. For me it's the Tempranillo and my favorite is the Syrah. The wine maker does a wonderful job of keeping the wines in balance. Roxyanne also has a Port that is one of my favorites. I am no expert with ports. This is due to the fact that the brandy in a port usually upsets me belly. This Port style wine has great fruit and once again is very balanced and a joy to drink. See you there Friday.

Looking for a Winery that has wines that are always approachable

last night I was looking to enjoy a nice wine with my wife. I wasn't in the mood for a big red. I opened a bottle of Schmidt Family 2009 Viognier. As someone that considers himself a seasonal wino I would not usually open a white wine in February. I am so glad I did! This wine was wonderful. Great fruit on the nose to start. This was a clean and crisp wine that can be enjoyed year round. My plans for the other two bottles I have are easy. I will be opening them this summer while sitting around our pool with friends and family. It has been nearly six months since I have been out to Schmidt Family. I would suggest if you are in the Rogue Valley. Make sure to run out to the Applegate. Every wine that Cal Schmidt produces is very approachable. If you are looking to enjoy a great wine and by the way. Schmidt Family has one if not the best tasting grounds in the valley. This is a must go to Winery and don't forget to purchase your 2009 Viognier.

Sincerely,

Southern Oregon Wine in Kauii

Roxyann Pinot Gris in Kauii. I took this bottle and a bottle of Spangler Petite Syrah. I had the bar tender at the resort try the wines. He loved them.
